Hello!  It's been quite a while since I posted!  Wow.  My life has changed a lot since my first posting.  I got divorced.  Then I got married and inherited a stepson.  I changed churches about a year before getting married.  I started attending my fiance's (now husband's) church.

My (new) husband was instrumental in starting a food bank at his (now our) church (Downey First Christian Church) about 6 years ago.  I help behind the scenes, making the powerpoint with info for the neighbors that we help.   We partner with the Moravian Church of Downey - they provide free clothing on Wednesdays.

We also have one of the churches who provides hygiene items for our homeless neighbors about once per month.  They come to the food bank to distribute the items.

We also leave bins at area churches, for those who would like to donate food items.

I love that several churches are working together.  It's awesome to see the Body of Christ as one.

New Christians

Hi. I'm a new Christian and I'm sure there's others out there like me with lots of questions and the desire to connect with their brothers and sisters in Christ. So, I wanted to find a church and for a period of 8 weeks, went to different churches to see where I felt comfortable, but especially to check out their beliefs and doctrines. I feel we are in the end times and there will be a lot of false teachers, so I'm trying to be careful.

Well, I found some that were ok, some were not good, and some that were just right. I decided to start a blog because I wanted to post things that were going on in my community that were church-related. I strongly feel that the body of Christ is too divisive. There are so many people that are true Christians but they only associate with the people at their own church. We need to work together and I thought I would try to bring us together for the common good.

My idea for this blog (sorry, I don't even know what a blog is exactly) is to post events and happenings in churches in Downey, Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs, and surrounding communities so that we can be aware of what each other is doing and maybe join forces in some things.
